About Glock 44

Glock 44 Magazine: OEM .22 LR and Aftermarket Extended Options

A Glock 44 magazine is a 10-round .22 LR (Long Rifle) polymer magazine designed for the Glock 44 rimfire pistol. The Glock 44 is the first Glock chambered in .22 LR with a compact-size frame that matches the Glock 19 dimensions. The G44 magazine does not share compatibility with any other Glock model because the .22 LR cartridge and the G44 magazine well use a unique geometry. TactaBlue stocks Glock 44 magazines from Glock OEM and ProMag Industries.

Glock 44 OEM Magazine Specifications

The Glock 44 OEM magazine specifications are:

  • Caliber: .22 LR (Long Rifle)
  • Capacity: 10 rounds
  • Body material: Full polymer body with impact-resistant DuPont Zytel-based polymer
  • Feed lip material: Polymer
  • Spring: Heat-treated chrome-silicon wire compression spring
  • Follower: Injection-molded polymer with anti-tilt geometry
  • Loading assist: Integrated loading assist tab on the follower
  • Insert construction: Full-length steel inserts for structural rigidity

The Glock 44 OEM magazine uses full-length steel inserts inside the polymer body that prevent deformation under impact and maintain consistent feed geometry. The integrated loading assist tab on the follower allows the shooter to press the follower down with a thumb to reduce spring tension during loading.

Glock 44 Magazine Compatibility

The Glock 44 magazine is not compatible with any other Glock model. The G44 uses a dedicated .22 LR magazine well and feed geometry that differs from all centerfire Glock platforms. The G44 frame dimensions match the Glock 19 externally but the internal magazine well geometry is designed for the rimfire .22 LR cartridge (rim diameter: 7.04mm) rather than the centerfire 9mm cartridge (rim diameter: 9.96mm). Glock 19 9mm magazines do not fit the Glock 44.

ProMag Glock 44 Aftermarket Magazines

ProMag Glock 44 .22 LR 18-Round Magazine

The ProMag Glock 44 18-round magazine is an aftermarket extended polymer magazine that adds 8 rounds beyond the OEM 10-round capacity. The 18-round magazine extends below the G44 grip. ProMag magazines use a heat-treated chrome-silicon wire spring and an injection-molded polymer follower.

ProMag Glock 44 .22 LR 25-Round Magazine

The ProMag Glock 44 25-round magazine is the highest capacity magazine available for the Glock 44 platform. The 25-round magazine extends approximately 4 inches (102 mm) below the standard grip and provides 2.5 times the OEM capacity. The extended magazine is designed for range training and plinking where concealment is not a factor.

Glock 44 Magazine Maintenance

Glock 44 .22 LR magazines require more frequent cleaning than centerfire Glock magazines due to the waxy residue and carbon buildup from .22 LR ammunition. .22 LR rimfire cartridges use a lead or copper-washed lead projectile and a wax lubricant coating that deposits residue on the magazine body, follower, and spring. Clean the G44 magazine body with a nylon brush and solvent every 500 rounds. Inspect the polymer feed lips for wear every 2,000 rounds.

Glock 44 as a Training Platform

The Glock 44 is designed as a rimfire training pistol that replicates the Glock 19 manual of arms at lower ammunition cost. The .22 LR cartridge costs $0.05 to $0.10 per round compared to $0.20 to $0.30 per round for 9mm, which reduces training ammunition cost by 50% to 75%. The identical grip angle, trigger pull, and slide manipulation between the G44 and G19 allow cross-training between rimfire and centerfire platforms. The 10-round G44 magazine allows the same reload drills as a 10-round state-compliant G19 magazine.

Glock 44 Accessories

The Glock 44 accepts Glock night sights with the standard Glock rear dovetail and accepts threaded barrels for suppressor use (.22 LR suppression reduces report to approximately 113 dB). Browse aftermarket Glock accessories and the complete Glock magazine catalog at TactaBlue.
