Glock Magazine Compatibility: Which Magazines Fit Which Guns

Glock magazine compatibility follows 3 rules: same caliber, same or larger frame size, same magazine well width. A larger Glock magazine fits a smaller Glock of the same caliber (extends below grip). A smaller Glock magazine does not fit a larger Glock because the shorter magazine body does not engage the magazine catch. Cross-caliber compatibility does not exist - 9mm, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG magazines use different feed lip geometry and are never interchangeable.

The 9mm Glock magazine compatibility chain is: G17 magazines fit the G17, G17L, G18, G19 (extends), G26 (extends), G34, G45, and G47. G19 magazines fit the G19, G26 (extends), and G45. G26 magazines fit only the G26. G43X/G48 Slimline magazines fit only G43X and G48 models. G43 magazines fit the G43 and the G43X (sits shorter in grip).

Standard vs. Extended Capacity Glock Magazines

Standard capacity Glock magazines sit flush with the grip and provide the factory-rated round count: 17 rounds for the G17, 15 for the G19, 10 for the G26, 13 for the G23, and 10 for the G43X. Extended capacity Glock magazines add rounds through longer magazine bodies or base pad extensions:

• 33-round extended magazines for full-size and compact 9mm Glocks
• 24-round extended magazines for mid-range capacity increase
• 22-round extended magazines for .40 S&W Glock models
• 50-round drum magazines (Magpul D-50 GL9) for 9mm double-stack Glocks

10mm and .45 ACP Glock Magazines

The Glock 21 .45 ACP magazine holds 13 rounds in a double-stack configuration. The Glock 20 10mm magazine holds 15 rounds. The Glock 30 .45 ACP subcompact magazine holds 10 rounds with magazine extensions available to increase capacity. The Glock 29 10mm subcompact magazine holds 10 rounds. Large-frame Glock magazines (G20, G21, G29, G30) are not compatible with standard or compact frame Glock models.
