About Bipods

Atlas Bipod

An Atlas bipod is a precision rifle bipod manufactured by B&T Industries, L.L.C. that uses 6061-T6 or 7075-T6 aluminum construction with 5 independent leg positions, adjustable pan and cant, and interchangeable feet for prone, bench, and field shooting applications. Atlas bipods mount to Military Standard 1913 (MIL-STD-1913) Picatinny rails, Arca-Swiss rails, and American Defense Manufacturing (ADM) quick-detach levers. B&T Industries produces 5 Atlas bipod series — V8, Precision Sniper Rifle (PSR), Cant And Loc (CAL), Super CAL, and 5-H — with height ranges from 4.8 inches (122 millimeters or mm) to 12.8 inches (325 mm) and weights from 10.8 ounces (306 grams or g) to 27.2 ounces (771 g). This guide covers the Atlas bipod series comparison with specifications and pricing, Accu-Shot monopods, mounting options, accessories, and the differences between Atlas bipods and competing bipod brands.

Atlas Bipod Series Comparison

B&T Industries manufactures 5 Atlas bipod series that differ in height range, weight, leg material, pan and cant adjustment, and mounting interface.

V8 Series

The Atlas V8 series includes 3 models — the BT10, BT10-NC, and BT10-LW17 — with a height range of 4.8 to 9.1 inches (122 to 231 mm), a weight of 10.8 to 12.7 ounces (306 to 360 g), and 6061-T6 aluminum inner legs. The BT10 V8 Atlas bipod costs $229.95 and includes a 2-screw Picatinny clamp. The BT10-NC ships with no clamp at $229.95, accepting aftermarket clamps including the BT19, BT70, ADM-170-S quick-detach lever, ARMS17S, and LaRue Tactical (LT271). The BT10-LW17 includes an ADM-170-S quick-detach lever at $294.95 for fast attachment and removal from Picatinny rails. The BT10-ARCA V8 mounts directly to Arca-Swiss and Area 419 Arcalock specification rails. All V8 models provide 15 degrees of pan (30 degrees total) and 15 degrees of cant (30 degrees total) with adjustable preloaded tension controlled by a knurled knob.

PSR Series

The Atlas PSR series includes 6 models in standard height (BT46) and tall (BT47) configurations, with 7075-T6 aluminum inner legs, non-rotating legs, and fore/aft pivot limiting bosses that the V8 series does not have. The BT46-NC PSR costs $289.95 with a standard height range of 5.0 to 9.4 inches (127 to 239 mm) and weighs 11.42 ounces (324 g). The BT46-LW17 PSR includes the ADM-170-S lever at $354.95. The BT47-NC tall PSR provides a height range of 5.2 to 9.6 inches (132 to 244 mm) at $309.95, and the BT47-LW17 tall PSR costs $374.95. B&T Industries manufactures the BT46-NC-FDE and BT47-NC-FDE in Flat Dark Earth (FDE) Cerakote at $389.95 and $409.95. The BT46-ARCA PSR mounts to Arca-Swiss rails and weighs 13.61 ounces (386 g). PSR models use a 0.5-inch position button diameter compared to the V8's 0.36-inch button, and PSR footprint spread at 90 degrees measures 8 to 11 inches (203 to 279 mm).

CAL Series

The Atlas CAL (Cant And Loc) series includes 7 Generation 2 models that replace pan adjustment with extended cant range — 31.5 degrees per side (63 degrees total) versus the V8 and PSR's 15 degrees per side (30 degrees total). The BT65 Gen. 2 CAL costs $264.95 with a 2-screw clamp and weighs 12.87 ounces (365 g). The BT65-NC has no clamp at $264.95. The BT65-LW17 includes the ADM-170-S lever at $329.95 and is one of B&T Industries' most popular models. The BT69 Gen. 2 CAL tall models provide a height range of 6.1 to 12.3 inches (155 to 312 mm), with the BT69 at $289.95, BT69-NC at $289.95, and BT69-LW17 at $354.95. The BT65-ARCA mounts to Arca-Swiss rails and weighs 13.296 ounces (377 g) with a 9.75 to 13-inch (248 to 330 mm) footprint. CAL series models feature non-rotating legs, larger and stronger inner legs than the V8, and adjustable preloaded cant tension.

Super CAL Series

The Atlas Super CAL series provides the widest footprint and heaviest construction in the Atlas lineup, with models BT72, BT72-NC, and BT72-LW17 weighing 21.3 to 23.16 ounces (604 to 657 g) and a footprint spread of 14.75 to 19.37 inches (375 to 492 mm) at 90 degrees. The Super CAL series costs $374.95 to $439.95 and uses 6061-T6 aluminum inner legs with a height range of 5.6 to 10.8 inches (142 to 274 mm). Super CAL bipods share the CAL series' 31.5-degree cant adjustment with no pan and feature non-rotating legs. The Super CAL suits heavy rifle platforms and bench shooting where maximum footprint stability outweighs weight savings.

5-H Series

The Atlas 5-H series includes the BT35-NC and BT35-LW17, which are the tallest and heaviest Atlas bipods at 25.0 to 27.2 ounces (709 to 771 g) with a height range of 4.8 to 10.0 inches (122 to 254 mm) and a footprint spread of 14.5 to 19.5 inches (368 to 495 mm). The BT35-NC costs $429.95, and the BT35-LW17 costs $504.95 with the ADM-170-S lever. 5-H bipods use 6061-T6 aluminum inner legs with 15 degrees of pan and 15 degrees of cant (matching the V8 and PSR), non-rotating legs, and a folded width of 5.9 inches (150 mm) compared to 2.88 inches (73 mm) for the V8 and PSR.

Atlas Bipod vs Harris Bipod

Atlas bipods and Harris bipods are 2 competing precision rifle bipod systems that differ in leg adjustment method, pan and cant capability, material, and price range. Harris bipods use a notched spring-loaded leg extension system that requires two hands to adjust leg height, while Atlas bipods use a non-oriented 5-position leg system adjustable with either hand. Harris bipods cost $60 to $150, and Atlas bipods cost $229.95 to $504.95. Atlas bipods provide built-in pan and cant adjustment with preloaded tension, while Harris bipods require aftermarket adapters for panning capability. Harris bipods weigh 9.1 to 14.5 ounces (258 to 411 g) across the standard S-series lineup and mount via sling stud swivels, while Atlas bipods mount via Picatinny clamp, Arca rail, or quick-detach lever. Both bipod brands use aluminum construction and stainless steel fasteners.

Accu-Shot Monopods

B&T Industries manufactures Accu-Shot monopods in 3 mounting configurations — Precision Rail Mount (PRM), sling stud mount, and Accuracy International-specific mount — for rear rifle support. The BT12-QK Standard Height Accu-Shot Precision Rail Monopod costs $99.95 and the BT13-QK Mid-Height model costs $104.95. Accu-Shot monopods mount to the buttstock Picatinny rail and provide adjustable height for controlling rear elevation during prone and bench shooting. PRM monopods use a quick-release rail clamp, and sling stud monopods attach to the existing buttstock sling swivel stud. Accu-Shot monopods pair with Atlas bipods to create a front and rear support system for precision rifle scope zeroing and long-range shooting.

Atlas Bipod Mounting Options

Atlas bipods accept 6 mounting interfaces: the BT19 2-screw Picatinny clamp (included with standard models), BT70 low-profile Picatinny clamp, ADM-170-S quick-detach lever, ARMS17S throw lever, LaRue Tactical LT271 lever, and Arca-Swiss direct mount. The "NC" (No Clamp) models ship without a mounting interface and accept any of the 6 aftermarket options. The "LW17" models include the ADM-170-S lever, which provides tool-free attachment and removal in under 2 seconds. Area 419 Arcalock rails accept the ARCA-designated Atlas bipods directly. Standard Picatinny clamps torque to 25 inch-pounds (2.8 newton-meters or N·m) using a 5/32-inch hex key.

Atlas Bipod Accessories

B&T Industries sells 4 categories of Atlas bipod accessories: replacement feet, leg extensions, clamps and adapters, and hardware kits. Replacement feet include standard soft rubber feet (installed on all models), ski-style feet for soft ground, and multi-spiked feet for hard surfaces — all feet swap in the field using a ball plunger with a bullet tip. Optional 3-inch (76 mm) leg extensions increase maximum height by 3 inches per leg. Atlas bipod clamps and adapters include 17 products covering Picatinny, Arca, Accuracy International, and Sako rifle-specific mounts. B&T Industries manufactures unassembled Atlas bipods and Accu-Shot monopods for custom Cerakote or DuraCoat coating to match rifle finishes.

Atlas Bipod Features and Specifications

All Atlas bipods share 5 core design features: 5 total leg positions (stowed back, 45 degrees angled back, 90 degrees straight down, 45 degrees forward, and stowed forward), non-oriented leg positioning usable with either hand, non-oriented leg length adjustment across 5 height positions spaced 0.75 inches (19 mm) apart, stainless steel springs and fasteners, and Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight (UHMW) polyethylene components for smooth tracking. All models use hard-anodized black aluminum construction, and all models are manufactured in the United States by B&T Industries. Atlas bipods fold to a stowed profile as narrow as 2.88 inches (73 mm) for the V8, PSR, and CAL series, and Atlas bipod leg splay at the 45-degree position allows loading the bipod against the shooting support surface for increased stability during recoil.

Questions

Bipods — Common Questions

Yes, Atlas bipods are high-quality precision rifle bipods used by competitive shooters, law enforcement, and military marksmen. B&T Industries manufactures Atlas bipods from 6061-T6 and 7075-T6 aluminum with stainless steel fasteners in the United States, and the bipods feature 5 independent leg positions, adjustable pan and cant, and interchangeable feet.

The Atlas PSR uses 7075-T6 aluminum inner legs (stronger than the V8's 6061-T6), non-rotating outer legs, a larger 0.5-inch position button (versus the V8's 0.36-inch button), and fore/aft pivot limiting bosses that the V8 does not have. The PSR costs $289.95 to $409.95 compared to $229.95 to $294.95 for the V8.

Atlas bipod height ranges vary by series. The V8 ranges from 4.8 to 9.1 inches (122 to 231 mm), the PSR standard from 5.0 to 9.4 inches (127 to 239 mm), the PSR tall from 5.2 to 9.6 inches (132 to 244 mm), the CAL standard from 4.9 to 9.2 inches (124 to 234 mm), the CAL tall from 6.1 to 12.3 inches (155 to 312 mm), and the 5-H from 4.8 to 10.0 inches (122 to 254 mm).

Atlas bipods mount via a Picatinny rail clamp (2-screw BT19 or low-profile BT70), an ADM-170-S quick-detach lever, an ARMS17S throw lever, a LaRue Tactical LT271 lever, or directly to an Arca-Swiss or Area 419 Arcalock rail. "NC" models ship without a clamp, and "LW17" models include the ADM-170-S quick-detach lever.

The Atlas CAL replaces pan adjustment with extended cant range of 31.5 degrees per side (63 degrees total), compared to the V8's 15 degrees of pan and 15 degrees of cant (30 degrees total each). The CAL features non-rotating legs and larger, stronger inner legs than the V8. The CAL costs $264.95 to $354.95 and weighs 12.65 to 16.08 ounces (359 to 456 g).

Yes, Atlas bipods work for hunting with the V8 and PSR series being the most popular hunting models at 10.8 to 13.61 ounces (306 to 386 g). The 5 leg positions allow deployment on uneven terrain, the rubber feet grip natural surfaces, and the folding legs stow against the rifle forend for carrying in the field.

B&T Industries does not publish a rated weight limit for Atlas bipods, but the bipods support rifles chambered from 5.56x45mm NATO through .50 BMG (Browning Machine Gun). The 5-H and Super CAL series with wider footprints (14.5 to 19.5 inches or 368 to 495 mm) and heavier construction (21.3 to 27.2 ounces or 604 to 771 g) suit heavy magnum and .50 caliber rifle platforms.
