About Black Glock Barrel

Glock Threaded Barrel: Aftermarket Duty and Match Barrels for Compensators and Suppressors

A Glock threaded barrel is an aftermarket or OEM replacement barrel with external muzzle threads that allow attachment of compensators, muzzle brakes, and suppressors. The standard Glock factory barrel has no muzzle threads. Glock threaded barrels use a 1/2x28 thread pitch for 9mm models, which is the standard thread pitch for 9mm muzzle devices in the United States. TactaBlue stocks Glock threaded barrels from Faxon Firearms, True Precision, Zaffiri Precision, and Lone Wolf Distributors for the G17, G19, G34, G43, G43X, G48, and other Glock models in Gen 2-5 configurations.

There are 3 primary reasons to install a Glock threaded barrel: compensator mounting for reduced muzzle rise during rapid fire, suppressor compatibility for sound reduction, and upgraded barrel metallurgy and rifling for improved accuracy over the factory barrel. A threaded barrel extends 0.5 to 0.75 inches (13 to 19 mm) beyond the factory barrel length to accommodate the thread protector.

Glock OEM Threaded Barrels and Thread Specifications

Glock produces factory threaded barrels in 4 metric thread pitches based on caliber and model:

  • M13.5x1 Left-hand thread for 9mm models (G17, G19, G34, G45) - European metric specification
  • M16x1 Left-hand thread for .45 ACP models (G21, G41)
  • M12x0.75 Right-hand thread for 9mm Slimline models (G43, G43X, G48)
  • M9x0.75 for .380 ACP models (G42)

Aftermarket Glock threaded barrels from U.S. manufacturers use the 1/2x28 thread pitch (right-hand) for 9mm models, which is the standard thread pitch for most U.S.-manufactured compensators, muzzle brakes, and 9mm suppressors. Verify thread pitch compatibility between your barrel and muzzle device before purchasing.

Faxon Duty Series Glock Barrels

Faxon Firearms manufactures Glock barrels in 2 product lines: Duty Series and Match Series. All Faxon barrels are machined in Cincinnati, Ohio, and backed by a lifetime warranty.

Faxon Duty Series Barrel for G17 Gen 2-4 9mm

The Faxon Duty Series barrel for the G17 Gen 2-4 is a drop-in replacement barrel machined from 416R stainless steel with a target crown and 11-degree feed ramp. The Duty Series barrel uses conventional button rifling with a 1:10 twist rate for 9mm. Available in non-threaded and 1/2x28 threaded configurations.

Faxon Duty Series Barrel for G17 Gen 5 9mm

The Faxon Duty Series barrel for the G17 Gen 5 uses the same 416R stainless steel construction as the Gen 2-4 version with Gen 5-specific barrel lug geometry. Available in non-threaded and 1/2x28 threaded configurations.

Faxon Duty Series Barrels for G34

Faxon Duty Series barrels for the Glock 34 are available for Gen 2-4 and Gen 5 in non-threaded and 1/2x28 threaded configurations. The G34 barrel measures 5.31 inches (135 mm) in length, which provides a longer sight radius and more complete powder burn for competition use. Pair a threaded G34 barrel with a Glock 34 aftermarket slide for a complete competition upper assembly.

Faxon Duty Series Barrels for G43/G43X and G48

Faxon Duty Series barrels for the G43X and G48 Slimline models are available in non-threaded and 1/2x28 threaded configurations machined to Slimline barrel specifications. The G43/G43X barrel measures 3.41 inches (87 mm) and the G48 barrel measures 4.17 inches (106 mm).

Faxon Duty Series 9mm Conversion Barrel for G22 Gen 2-4

The Faxon Duty Series 9mm conversion barrel for the G22 Gen 2-4 converts the .40 S&W Glock 22 to fire 9x19mm by using a 9mm chamber and barrel bore in the G22 slide. The conversion barrel requires Glock 9mm magazines (G17 magazines fit the G22 frame). Available in 1/2x28 threaded configuration.

Faxon Match Series Glock Barrels

Faxon Match Series Flame Fluted Barrels for G17 Gen 5

Faxon Match Series flame fluted barrels for the G17 Gen 5 feature decorative flame fluting along the barrel exterior that reduces barrel weight and increases surface area for faster cooling. Match Series barrels use a tighter chamber tolerance than Duty Series barrels for improved accuracy. Available in non-threaded and 1/2x28 threaded configurations in stainless steel and TiN (gold) PVD finishes.

Duty Series vs. Match Series

Duty Series

Faxon Duty Series barrels are designed for reliability-first applications including concealed carry, home defense, and duty use. Duty Series barrels use a standard chamber specification that feeds a wide range of ammunition types including full metal jacket (FMJ), jacketed hollow point (JHP), and frangible. Duty Series barrels prioritize feeding reliability over match-grade accuracy.

Match Series

Faxon Match Series barrels are designed for accuracy-first applications including competition shooting and precision range work. Match Series barrels use a tighter chamber tolerance that produces smaller shot groups. Match Series barrels may be more selective with ammunition types and require break-in before optimal accuracy.

Threaded vs. Standard Barrels

Standard (Non-Threaded)

Standard Glock barrels have a flat muzzle crown with no external threads. Standard barrels maintain the factory barrel length and do not extend beyond the slide. Standard barrels are preferred for concealed carry because the barrel does not protrude from the slide or require a thread protector.

Threaded

Threaded Glock barrels extend 0.5 to 0.75 inches (13 to 19 mm) beyond the factory barrel length to accommodate the thread protector. Threaded barrels require a thread protector cap when no muzzle device is attached. The thread protector prevents damage to the muzzle threads during holstering and handling. Pair a threaded barrel with a compensator for reduced muzzle rise - True Precision Cobra compensators and recoil spring tuning kits are available at TactaBlue for compensated Glock setups.

Glock Threaded Barrel Installation

To install a Glock threaded barrel, lock the slide to the rear, remove the slide from the frame, compress the recoil spring assembly and remove it, then slide the factory barrel forward and out of the slide. Insert the aftermarket threaded barrel into the slide in the reverse order. No permanent modification is required. Aftermarket Glock barrels from Faxon, True Precision, and Zaffiri Precision are drop-in replacements that require no fitting or gunsmithing.

Glock Barrel Profiles and Finishes

Aftermarket Glock barrels are available in 4 finish types:

  • Stainless steel (uncoated) provides a bright silver appearance and corrosion resistance
  • Nitride (black) produces a hard, wear-resistant surface at 68+ HRC
  • TiN PVD (gold) creates a thin, hard gold-colored coating
  • DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) produces a low-friction, wear-resistant black surface

Barrel profiles include standard (straight), spiral fluted (weight reduction and aesthetics), and flame fluted (Match Series). Browse TactaBlue Glock accessories including night sights, magwells, extended slide releases, and magazines at TactaBlue.
